Position Summary

The Dallas College Facilities Management Department supports the facility needs for Dallas College while providing responsible stewardship and efficient operation of the College's physical assets. The Facilities Management Department is responsible for approximately 5,500,000 sq. ft. of physical space and over 1400 acres of land, located across multiple locations in Dallas County. The position of Pest Management Technician supports this effort through the prevention and elimination of pests across the College utilizing industry best practices and integrated pest management techniques. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledgeable of pest control practices including inspection and control of pests in and around structures, inspection and control of termites and other wood destroying insects.  

  • Knowledgeable of industry best practices and demonstrates a clear understanding of integrated pest management practices. 

  • Able to perform quality, service, and safety inspections, monitor and document proper use of personal protective equipment, supplies, and equipment.   

  • Ability to work independently and respond quickly to specific situations, and ability to work with a team to attain optimal performance and services rendered to campus/location facilities.  

  • Demonstrate positive working relationships with colleagues and clients.   

  • Able to communicate effectively and courteously with contractors, vendors and individuals internal/external to Dallas College.

  • Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.  

  • Ability to utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document daily work orders. 

  • Must have the ability to maintain the security and integrity of the critical infrastructure of Dallas College.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures the highest quality of pest management across all Dallas College locations. 

  • Manage pest control products and inventory according to industry safety.

  • Responds to customer pest control complaints utilizing facilities work order system. 

  • Responsible for pest control preventive maintenance program at all College locations. 

  • Travel between College locations utilizing College owned vehicle.

  • Will work with Facility Managers to ensure campus pest management services meet College standards and will also assist Facilities Management leadership in prioritizing maintenance projects.   

  • Works with other Facilities teammates to ensure the highest level of customer service and will provide a safe and healthy building for Dallas College students, faculty, and staff. 

  • Assist other Facilities Management teams as required.  

  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.   

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending over, stooping, twisting, talking, hearing, climbing ladders, using stairs, reaching overhead, crouching, kneeling, or crawling. Pushing or pulling 10-50 lbs., lifting 10-80 lbs., carrying 10-50 lbs., repetitive use of arms and legs, driving, balancing, manual dexterity-fine manipulation or grasping. May require working in adverse weather conditions.   

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with five (5) years of related experience.

  • Noncommercial structural pest control applicator license from the Texas Department of Agriculture or currently holds a technician license with the ability to obtain Noncommercial applicator license within 3 months.

  • Valid Texas driver’s license.

  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
