Job Summary

The Marathon Kenai Refinery located in Kenai, Alaska is seeking an experienced Personal Safety Professional.

The available schedule for the position is a 9/80, after hours calls are required one to two times a month and support of TAR once every 3 years.

Key Responsibilities
1. Provides technical support of routine operations, project work, major maintenance or construction support, and emergency response to ensure worker safety throughout the planning and execution phases of work.
2. Supports development, maintenance, and execution of safety programs for implementation in the field to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and conformance to MPC corporate standards.
3. Conducts auditing on safety programs to verify compliance and conformance with regulatory and MPC standards. This includes analyzing safety performance data to identify and report trends, along with proposing recommendations to address areas of concern.
4. Leads and supports investigations for near-misses, incidents, and injuries to identify root causes and recommendations to prevent future incidents. Tracks recommendations to implementation to ensure completion.
5. Develops and presents training material related to a variety of safety topics in collaboration with Operations and Learning Development departments.
6. Provides subject matter expertise for assigned programs, which may include providing input as a competent person for fall protection and excavation safety, support during Life Critical work and input on other regulatory programs.
7. Develops safety related communications for inclusion into shift starter meetings, safety meeting, notices, and bulletins.

Education, Experience and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a high school degree or GED. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)

  • Must have at least 4 years working in the refinery in operations, maintenance, lab or related field work.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license. (MPC determines valid status.)

  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.

  • Travel Requirement is 5% or less.

  • The available schedule for the position is a 9/80, after hours calls are required one to two times a month and support of TAR once every 3 years.

Relocation is not available.
