About the role

Cabrini Brighton One South is a 33 bed mixed surgical and medical ward. We are seeking a Personal Care Assistant to join our team in a permanent part-time position.

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) is responsible for supporting the nursing staff to deliver safe and seamless care and assisting with managing ward resources and equipment. The PCA will assist with monitoring and stocking resources, cleaning equipment, assisting with bed flow, and ensuring beds are made and ready for admissions to the ward.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering care to patients under the supervision and direction of the registered nurse.

  • Providing observation of patients and related reporting to the registered nurse.

  • Responding to patient and family queries and referring to the registered nurse as required.

  • Maintaining the patient environment, including bed making, restocking of supplies and equipment.

  • Maintaining patient privacy and dignity and responding to their emotional, spiritual and cultural needs.

About you

This role will suit an individual with previous experience as a PCA or Ward Assistant. You will work collaboratively with Ward Clerk and In Charge to maximise patient flow and experience.

You will also have:

  • Health Service Assistance qualifications or relevant qualifications as outlined in the position description.

  • Previous experience as a PCA/WA preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and capacity to develop trust and relationships with patients.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential issues.

  • Previous experience in an acute hospital setting is desired.

  • Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) and Police check is required.
