Job Summary:
This position will plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive bereavement program that supports women with a perinatal loss in our community. The program provides support and guidelines for families with a perinatal loss and who experience death and results in feelings of loss and grief. The program manager will monitor and track the program effectiveness and adjust the program needs accordingly. Travel is required.
Position Responsibilities:
Plan, develop, and implement a perinatal bereavement program, to include a perinatal palliative care program. Responsible for the ongoing daily management within the scope of the corporate standards, protocols, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Works in collaboration with nursing, medical staff, ancillary departments and may include pre-hospital providers.
Stays informed of local and national programs to innovate program development; implements best practice changes and monitors effectiveness of the practice change.
Continually evaluates effectiveness of the program, utilizes voice of the customer to continue to evolve program content to meet customer requirements, best practices, and compassionate programing.
Responsible for patient follow up after a perinatal loss within the Virtua system and in the community (as requested).
Provide timely contact and education to the parents of the loss/diagnosis. Completes clinical analysis and develops individualized plan of care and available resources.
As a member of the medical team provide clear communication to the parent(s) regarding facts and parents’ options and choices.
Provides bereavement sensitivity training and education to staff and physicians within Virtua Health system and in the community. Maintains a list of bereavement community resources; Coordinates and Facilitates bereavement support groups
Serves as a resource and support for women with a perinatal loss outside of the Virtua system. Provide seminars/education to health organizations and community groups-travel required.
Maintaining and reporting data; Evaluation of results; identifying gaps; developing strategies to fill the gaps.
Position Qualifications Required:
Required Experience:
5 years’ experience in NICU and/or Labor and Delivery and support of perinatal loss at the bedside.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Sensitive to human needs in situations encountered during bereavement care. Knowledge and experience using PowerPoint, presentation skills., and Excel Ability to speak to small and large audiences. Experience in facilitating support groups.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, BSN
Training / Certification / Licensure:
Must have valid NJ RN license
Certification in Perinatal bereavement
