We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Software Engineering MTS. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about performance engineering and eager to contribute to a dynamic and growing organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional results through strong domain knowledge, expertise and unwavering integrity. Our team is responsible for the Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement, encompassing both first-party and public cloud environments. As our footprint expands in size and complexity, we must consistently provide extremely high performance and throughput to support our business today and accommodate the substantial scale anticipated in the near future.


Your Impact:

  • Ensure high-performing and scalable Marketing experiences across both frontend and backend systems as a Performance Engineer for Marketing Cloud.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on performance test plan design and execution, implementing meaningful metrics, and building dashboards reflecting real-world customer usage.
  • Develop and maintain automated benchmarks and performance regression reports to track improvements and identify issues across releases.
  • Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in frontend (browser/UI), backend (APIs/services), and data layers, providing actionable insights and partnering with developers for resolution.
  • Conduct deep-dive diagnostics using various tools and profiling techniques to analyze system behavior, latency, and throughput.
  • Contribute to the development of internal performance tools, CI/CD integrations, and frameworks, including leveraging AI agents for enhanced automation, detection, and triage.
  • Document performance defects clearly when regressions occur and work with cross-functional teams to resolve them.
  • Promote the adoption of performance best practices by integrating performance considerations early in the development lifecycle.


Required Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in performance engineering, systems optimization, or backend/frontend diagnostics.
  • Strong understanding of React, JavaScript, microservices, and distributed systems in cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in performance fundamentals:
  • Frontend: Browser rendering, JavaScript optimization, and network analysis.
  • Backend: SQL performance analysis, query tuning, indexing, and caching strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as JMeter, Gatling, Chrome DevTools, YourKit, and Java Flight Recorder.
  • Scripting expertise in Python, Bash, or Node.js, with the ability to create automation tools and pipelines.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven tools or agents for performance monitoring, log analysis, or auto-diagnosis.
  • Ability to interpret performance data, pinpoint root causes, and clearly communicate findings.
  • Knowledge of data concepts related to relational databases and NoSQL stores.
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Operating Systems architecture knowledge including security and programming interfaces.
  • Experience high throughput, low latency, and plant scale software design and architecture.
  • Proven track record in performance design while engineering for scale in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with the Salesforce platform
  • Experience with monitoring solutions, such as - Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk
  • Experience with public cloud development (e.g. AWS, GCP, Alibaba, and/or Azure platforms)
  • Knowledge of data platform services, such as MSSQL and MySQL

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $157,600 - $216,700 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $172,000 - $236,500 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
