You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

At Vital Farms, we’re proud of the diverse communities we serve and the stakeholders who help bring our purpose to life. We’re committed to fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment where every crew member feels valued. We see this as one of our greatest strengths - and your role is key to helping us build on it.

Your Role:

The People Operations Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of core People Operations processes, serving as the first point of contact for crew members and people managers and ensuring accurate, timely execution of employee lifecycle transactions. Reporting to the Head of Shared Services, this role plays a critical part in delivering a consistent, high-quality crew member experience through ownership of transactional work, strong data integrity across People systems, and a service-oriented, continuous improvement mindset. The People Operations Specialist partners closely with HR Business Partners and subject matter experts, appropriately escalating complex or sensitive matters while contributing to the evolution of a scalable, efficient shared services model.

What You'll Do:

  • Own the day-to-day administration of employee lifecycle transactions, including onboarding, transfers, job changes, and offboarding
  • Serve as the first point of contact (Tier 0–1) for crew members and people managers regarding People Operations questions
  • Support standardization and adoption of shared services processes, ensuring consistent execution across teams and locations
  • Respond to routine inquiries using documented processes, knowledge articles, and standard procedures
  • Act as a liaison between crew members, people managers, and the People team to help resolve basic issues
  • Escalate complex, sensitive, or out-of-scope questions to appropriate subject matter experts
  • Complete employee data entry, updates, and ongoing maintenance in UKG and related People systems
  • Perform routine and ad hoc data audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Support manual data entry, data cleanup, and system corrections as needed
  • Handle sensitive crew member information with discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Maintain and update operational documentation, workflows, and standard operating procedures
  • Identify trends in recurring questions or issues and flag opportunities to improve processes, documentation, or self-service resources
  • Support continuous process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across People Operations
  • Assist with the implementation of new processes, tools, or system enhancements
  • Contribute to People Operations and shared services projects
  • Act like an owner and assist with other projects as assigned

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, HR, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in HR administration, shared services, or a related role
  • Experience working in HR systems and managing sensitive data; UKG experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working in and/or implementing a case management system
  • Strong attention to detail with a process-oriented mindset
  • Ability to manage a high volume of transactional work while balancing competing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer-focused, collaborative, and solutions-oriented working style
  • Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and escalate appropriately
  • Project coordination or process improvement experience is a plus
  • 10-20% travel is required for meetings, company trainings, and events
  • You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.
  • We recognize that talent comes in many forms. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. You may have strengths we haven’t yet considered!

What We Bring to the Table:

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
  • Competitive pay and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Parental Leave, just to name a few).
  • Generous retirement contributions: 401(k) + 3% Contribution from Day 1.
  • Free eggs and butter (yes, really!), along with friends and family discounts.
  • Fun team SWAG that will make you the talk of the town.
