We are building a universal banking assistant that millions of U.S. consumers can use to transact across all financial institutions and, over time, autonomously drive their financial goals. Powered by our proprietary BankGPT platform, this assistant is positioned to displace age-old legacy systems within financial institutions and own the end-to-end CX stack, unlocking a $200B opportunity and potentially replacing multiple publicly traded companies

Ultimately, our mission is to drive financial well-being for millions of consumers.

With over two-thirds of Americans living paycheck to paycheck, 50% holding less than $500 in savings, and only 17% financially literate, we aim to put financial well-being on autopilot to help solve this problem.

Interface.ai is on a mission to bring AI-powered financial wellness to millions of Americans — and we're doing it fast. We're a global team of ~125 people with serious momentum, a product that's already reshaping how fintech can serve its customers, and a San Francisco office that's just getting started.

We're at 15 people in SF and we need to get closer to 50 and not stop there. That means we need our people function to actually function — and we need someone to build it.


The Role

This is a founding moment. You'll be the first dedicated People Ops hire in the US, reporting directly to the Head of People, and you'll have a real seat at the table as we scale the SF office from a scrappy 15 to a thriving 50+. Globally, we're pushing from 125 toward 200+ by end of year — so the pace is real and the impact is immediate.

You're not inheriting a polished playbook. You're writing it.

But here's what makes this role different from most People Ops gigs: we are building a genuine, full-time, in-person culture in San Francisco — and you are the person who makes that real. Five days a week, in the office, in the room, setting the tone. You'll know everyone's name, their dog's name, and probably their coffee order. That's not a burden — that's the job, and it's the best part of it.

What You'll Own

  • Build and run a best-in-class onboarding experience for SF hires — from offer accepted to fully ramped and genuinely excited to be here
  • Own the in-office experience: the energy, the rituals, the moments that make people glad they chose Interface.ai
  • Partner with the Head of People on scaling people programs, policies, and processes as we grow
  • Be the heartbeat of the SF office — the person employees actually want to come to, and the one who notices when someone needs support before they ask
  • Drive culture programming, team events, and the kind of in-person environment that makes five days a week feel like a privilege, not a policy
  • Manage HR operations including HRIS, benefits administration, compliance, and employee records
  • Support recruiting coordination and candidate experience as we hire aggressively across the year
  • Identify gaps in the people function and propose solutions before anyone has to ask

You're a fit if you:

  • Have 4+ years of HR or People Ops experience, ideally at a startup or high-growth tech company
  • Have built or scaled something before — you know what "figuring it out" looks like and you genuinely like it
  • Believe in the office. You're not tolerating five days a week — you're energized by it. You want to be around people, build relationships in real life, and create something you can feel when you walk through the door
  • Are as comfortable building a process as you are planning a team lunch that people actually look forward to
  • Can hold confidentiality, navigate ambiguity, and keep your cool when everything is moving at once
  • Are based in San Francisco, ready to be on-site, and excited to be the culture anchor the team rallies around
  • Communicate clearly, follow through, and have a bias toward action

Bonus Points

  • Experience supporting a globally distributed team
  • Familiarity with HR tools like Rippling, Lattice, Greenhouse, or similar
  • You've supported a team through a hypergrowth phase and have the stories to prove it
