As Marqeta’s People Development Senior Manager you will be the driving force behind how we enable our managers, develop our leaders, and scale our learning ecosystem. You will be a rare hybrid: a high-level strategist who isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves. You will design a multi-year vision and then personally manage the project lifecycles to turn that vision into a reality.
We aren't looking for a "traditional" L&D practitioner who focuses on checking boxes and tracking completion rates. We are looking for an architect of growth—someone who sees learning as a competitive advantage and treats the employee experience as a high-end product.
We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States or from our Oakland office. We’d love for you to join us!
The Impact You’ll Have
1. Strategic Learning & Execution
- Vision to Reality: Translate broad strategies into actionable roadmaps, utilizing rigorous project and program management to ensure high-quality delivery.
- Learning Innovation: Identify and pilot emerging marketplace trends and AI-driven innovations to ensure our learning remains world-class.
- Thrive@MQ: Strategic oversight of our professional development budget, ensuring it drives both individual growth and organizational capability.
2. Manager & Leadership Enablement
- Manager Foundations: Build and scale a "Manager Excellence" framework that equips our people leaders with the essential tools to lead high-performing, inclusive teams.
- High-Potential Development: In partnership with the Talent Management lead, create intentional development paths and "stretch" experiences for key talent.
- Coaching & Mentoring: Scale our coaching programs, moving beyond informal pairings to a structured, high-impact community of practice.
3. Learning Technology & Innovation
- Tech Stack Strategy: Audit our current environment and bring expert recommendations to influence our future learning technology roadmap in partnership with our People Technology team.
- AI Integration: Use AI tools to accelerate the design, development, and global implementation of learning content at scale.
- Content Excellence: Create "beautiful," high-fidelity, and interactive digital content—utilizing tools like Articulate—that delivers a premium user experience "in-the-flow" of work.
4. Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentorship: Work closely with our Talent Development Program Manager, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to elevate their professional growth.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Partner with the Talent Analytics team to build robust measurement frameworks and dashboards that track the real-world impact of learning.
- Community Connection: Genuinely connect with our learners to understand their needs, ensuring L&D is integrated into the business rather than operating in a bubble.
Who You Are
- The "Strategic Doer": You possess the business acumen to sit at the strategy table and the project management discipline to lead the execution.
- A Master Facilitator: You don't just manage programs; you love to be "in the arena," facilitating high-impact sessions and teaching others.
- Tech-Savvy Architect: You understand the "plumbing" of L&D but also have the creative eye to build engaging, modern content.
- A Collaborative Influencer: You can navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, build trust quickly, and "bring others along" on the journey.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in L&D, Talent Management, or Organizational Development.
- Platform Expertise: Proven experience working within Workday and various LMS/LXP platforms.
- Design Skills: Proficiency in Articulate (Storyline/Rise) or similar rapid-authoring tools is preferred.
- Strategic Execution: A proven track record of turning a learning vision into a reality through expert project management.
- Leadership: Experience mentoring others to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- AI Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to use AI to scale design, development, or implementation of learning.
