Bellroy

People Development Capability Lead

Collingwood, Victoria, Australia Full Time

IN A NUTSHELL…

We’re looking for a People Development Lead to help Bellroy grow our people, not just our headcount. You’ll be a part of our People & Culture team, report to our Chief People Officer, and build the systems, rituals and programs that make learning, feedback and progression truly embedded in how we work.

Over the past few years, Bellroy has grown globally and we've put real care and effort into developing our learning culture and evolving how we handle performance and engagement. We're proud of where we're at, but there's a lot more to do. We want someone who can push our capability building and organisational development further.

Your expertise will show up in clear, thoughtful foundations so that all of our crew, regardless of team or location, are supported in their development. You'll shape how we approach learning, performance and development, from onboarding and coaching to managers actually having the conversations that matter, to how we understand performance across the business and what we do about it.

We offer a seriously considered environment, products designed with intention, a B Corp commitment to business as a force for good and a crew who genuinely love learning and improving. Decision making sits close to the work, we’re honest about what’s working (and what’s not), and we care a lot about doing things properly, not just ticking boxes.

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU HAVE…

  • Around 5+ years’ experience in learning & development, organisational development, HR business partnering or a similar people-focused role
  • Bonus points if you have experience working with frontline or retail team, we're building out our retail presence and need someone who understands how to develop capability in fast-paced, customer facing environments
  • Proven experience designing and delivering L&D interventions (not just outsourcing them) from needs analysis through to facilitation and follow up
  • Experience supporting or shaping performance frameworks (e.g. reviews, ratings, calibration, or similar) and using that data to drive action
  • Strong coaching and facilitation skills. You’re comfortable in a room (or online) with managers and senior leaders, and can help them tackle tricky people topics
  • A head for systems and psychology; you think about how teams work, how humans behave at work, and how to design environments that help them thrive
  • Confidence working with engagement/ performance data (e.g. survey tools, dashboards or spreadsheets) and turning numbers into clear, human insights
  • A bias for collaboration over territory. You’re happy to share work, co-own projects and flex around capacity, urgency and expertise
  • A style that is warm and candid. You can have honest conversations without drama, and you’re as comfortable listening as you are advising

Even if you don’t tick every box, if you’re excited by the idea of building a strong performance and development culture at Bellroy, we would love to hear from you.

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST WEEK, YOU MIGHT HAVE…

  • Sat with our CPO to go through the latest experience survey results and put together a simple action outline for the senior manager team
  • Run a session for managers on difficult performance conversations
  • Spent an afternoon with a team manager updating their onboarding materials so new starters get something that's actually useful and specific to their rol.
  • Mapped out L&D priorities for the quarters, what different groups need and what we build versus what we bring in
  • Updated the performance and engagement dashboard and updated managers on their team specific results and opportunities
  • Coached a manager through a conversation they were dreading
  • Started planning the learning content for our next conference—working out themes and speakers who'll give people something they can use

LOCATION & HOURS

This is a full time role based at our Collingwood office in Melbourne, working 4 days a week from our office and the 5th from home.

Start day: We’re ready when you are.
