People Business Partner

We’re looking for an experienced People Business Partner to join our Amstelveen office in a standalone role, reporting to the Managing Director of People in the UK. As a key member of the Netherlands team, you’ll play a pivotal role at the centre of a fast‑moving, ambitious organisation, shaping the employee experience, influencing culture, and driving meaningful impact across the business. The role includes regular travel to Mall of the Netherlands (MoN).

You’ll be part of a People Team of nine colleagues across the UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, and our assets, working together to create an exceptional workplace experience. What you will be doing… 

  • Adapt and apply the People Strategy to support local business goals.

  • Partner closely and regularly liaise with the Works Council, including managing organisational changes, preparing consent requests, attending and being an active participant in quarterly meetings, and actioning outcomes.

  • Provide expert guidance aligned with Dutch labour law, best practice, and business needs.

  • Develop and implement People policies and procedures consistently across the Group.

  • Coach managers on people practices, supporting them through change and negotiations.

  • Advise on employee relations, performance management, and absence cases.

  • Contribute to HR systems and process improvements with the Group People Team.

  • Deliver People solutions across business units, including talent management and succession planning.

  • Work closely with the Country Leader and senior leadership team based in the Netherlands.

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across marketing, leasing, finance, centre management, legal, investment, and technical teams.

  • Locally lead the annual employee cycle: objective setting, mid‑year reviews, and year‑end performance management.

  • Champion employee engagement initiatives and employee survey outcomes.

  • Support change management processes across the Netherlands.

  • Manage People‑related projects as required.

  • Oversee local health and sickness cases (Wet Verbetering Poortwachter).

  • Manage and process monthly payroll, annual compensation cycles, and bonus reviews.

  • Manage local wellbeing initiatives.

  • Oversee the local company car fleet.

  • Maintain relationships with local authorities (IND, Tax authorities including 30% ruling) and manage sponsorships.

  • Handle all People‑related administration.

  • Support internal and external audits.

  • Coordinate Group‑level learning and development for local teams.

  • Manage the local pension process and any changes that arise as part of legal changes. .

  • Act as the point of contact for external stakeholders, including insurance providers.

  • Manage People‑related legal cases in partnership with external employment lawyers.

What skills, experience, and knowledge will you need to be successful? 

  • Experience working with Works Councils.

  • Deep expertise in Dutch labour law.

  • Strong relationship‑building skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • Analytical capability.

  • A proactive, responsible approach with strong ownership.

  • Fluency in Dutch and English.

  • Comfortable working in a standalone HR environment, with the support of a wider HR team in other offices.

  • Knowledge of SAP, SAP4HANA, and Workday.
