The opportunity

Due to an internal promotion, we’re on the lookout for an experienced People Business Partner to jump in and partner with leaders across our Finance and Business BUs. You’ll be right at the centre of what’s happening—driving key people priorities and projects and keeping day-to-day people activity moving in a fast-paced environment. You’ll build a strong understanding of the business quickly and help leaders bring their people plans to life, from workforce planning and team changes through to operating model shifts.

About QBE

At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch.

We’re an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries – which means we’re big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It’s an exciting time. We’re building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner.

What if you could have a positive impact – at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you’ll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind.

Your new role

A day in the role may look a bit like this:

  • Start the day with your leaders—checking in on priorities, pressure points, and what’s coming up across the teams.
  • Coach and support leaders through performance, ER and team dynamics—clear advice, practical options, and calm guidance.
  • Partner on workforce planning: capability, capacity, org design and role changes—making sure the structure supports the strategy.
  • Work closely with our People Centres of Excellence to land talent, reward, wellbeing and learning initiatives in a way that sticks.
  • Keep the rhythm of key people moments—talent reviews, engagement actions, succession conversations, and change activity—moving at pace.
  • Identify patterns in employee feedback, turning insights into actions and projects that improve how we work—across process, capability, and culture.

About you

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring strong People BP experience, a commercial mindset, and the confidence to partner (and challenge) with leaders. You know how to balance pace with rigour—and you build trust by being clear, consistent, and genuinely helpful.

  • A track record partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing outcomes in a complex environment
  • Strong ER and performance capability, with sound judgement and a pragmatic approach
  • Experience supporting organisational change—team changes, restructures, or operating model shifts
  • Excellent prioritisation and planning—you can juggle multiple streams and keep things moving
  • A coaching mindset and the ability to lift leader capability, not just solve today’s problem
  • A curious, collaborative style—and the energy to roll up your sleeves and make progress
