Our Newest Opportunity:

Summary:

In today’s PEO sales world, an education/competence gap exists at our PEOs.  After CCGL’s PEO-level consulting and PRM’s new-business risk assessments, PEOs still need to decide when to get more aggressive on the pricing of new business and when to walk away.  Some PEOs are not selling enough business while missing good opportunities, and some others are selling too much business while bringing in deals that do not perform well.  Establishing the role of Pricing Consultant at CCGL is intended to address the gap.  If the PC role performs appropriately, CCGL clients will see increased new-business sales and better MLR performance.  That benefits CCGL in growing top-line revenue and increasing client satisfaction.  Although the position will be staffed, trained, and supervised in CCGL, it will occasionally respond to new-business pricing questions from PRM-only clients.

PCs are responsible for determining the risk profile of prospects based upon a review of all available sources of information and then advising the PEO on best-pricing options including discounting, benefits-neutral pricing (“parity”), and when to walk away from opportunities based upon market dynamics.  PCs will report activity routinely to CCGL management in order to track pricing recommendations and the frequency with which competitive pricing is supplied.  CCGL management will cross reference pricing decisions with new-business sales to track the effectiveness of the new-business pricing process.  PCs will be responsible for building strong, trusting relationships with PEO contacts, so communications skills and reliability are key attributes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Pricing Consultants (PCs) field phone calls from PEOs and follow a CCGL-supplied checklist to assist PEO contacts with medical-pricing decisions for new-business opportunities (“prospects”) after initial risk evaluations are completed by underwriting.
  • PCs will be responsible for reviewing records submitted to third-party underwriters as well as the underwriting output.
  • PCs will enter plan information into CCGL-provided underwriting tools and manage the output through a CCGL peer-review process in order to supply appropriate pricing recommendations to PEOs.
  • PCs will liaison between PEO benefits contacts, CCGL consultants, and third-party underwriters trained in medical-risk assessment.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:

  • High attention to detail
  • Strong business communication skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new processes
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

Education, Training and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience underwriting medical risk in the small-group health market or PEO market (or equivalent experience working with PEO-sponsored medical benefits)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Working knowledge of the Affordable Care Act
  • Experience working within the PEO industry

The typical base pay range for this role nationwide is $65,000 to $70,000 per year

Your base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location. In addition to base pay, some roles are eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on your individual performance and/or the company’s performance. We also offer eligible employees health, wellbeing, retirement, and other financial benefits, paid time off, overtime pay for non-exempt employees, and robust learning and development programs. You will receive reimbursement of job-related expenses per the company policy and may receive employee perks and discounts.
