Job Summary
The Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services (MOHS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for the Peer Recovery Specialist position within the Emergency Services Team to provide peer recovery support services to clients with substance use disorders, mental health disorders, and/or co-occurring disorders to begin and maintain a path to recovery. The Peer Recovery Specialist will provide onsite support at MOHS funded shelters and drop-in centers. Work involves weekly site visits and other service referral connections. Employees in this class work weekdays; Monday thru Friday, 8:30am-4:30 pm or flexible shifts as needed. Work requires minimal physical exertion. Work in this position includes no supervisory responsibilities or requirements. This position will report directly to the Operations Officer II (Emergency Services Manager).
Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Have an associate degree in human services or related field from an accredited college or university.
AND
Experience: Have career experience in social services, supportive housing, or working with homeless persons; and 2 years of HMIS experience, 1 year of paid experience performing community service work, providing information and referral services, or promoting community activities
OR
Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Background Check
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening, and must be successfully completed.
Probation
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a 6-month mandatory probation.
