About the Center for Experimental Neurotherapeutics (CENT)

CENT is designed to facilitate the rapid clinical development of promising treatments for catastrophic pediatric neurological diseases, with a focus on genetically defined diseases. Clinical trials focus on novel treatments that target the fundamental genetic underpinnings of the disease process.

As an RN in our CENT Clinic, you’ll join a collaborative team of physicians, therapists, and clinical research associates working on the frontlines of pediatric neurological care and clinical trial support. You will provide direct nursing care to patients enrolled in various clinical studies, playing a vital role in advancing treatments for catastrophic pediatric neurological diseases. In this dynamic role, you’ll interface with a broad patient population – neonates through young adults – and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team throughout St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 


Support and assist clinical research staff in the implementation of research activities. Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including neurologists, clinical researchers, pharmacists, therapists, and support staff. Accurately document patient care activities in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Monday-Friday 8a-4p. Holiday requirement and minimal weekend requirement

  • Full-time dayshift position (40 hours per week).
  • An ideal candidate would be one experienced in working with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ideal candidate would be experienced with a diverse population (neonate to late adolescents).
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with pediatric patients and families

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments for patients participating in CENT clinical research
  • Support and assist clinical research staff in the implementation of research activities.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including neurologists, clinical researchers, pharmacists, therapists, and support staff.
  • Accurately document patient care activities in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a resource and patient advocate for families navigating complex pediatric neurological diagnoses.
  • Assist in other clinic areas and specialties as needed to support the broader mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's of Nursing required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), required. Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS, preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • 18 months prior experience required.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:

  • (LC: RN-TN) Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state.
  • (LC: RN-ARK or RN-MISS) Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

  • Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) preferred.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $31.50 - $55.00 per hour for the role of Pediatric Oncology Nurse II.
