A Brief Overview

Coordinates all activities that includes but is not limited to coordination of all activities related to evaluation and consultation, coordination of physicians/OR teams for surgical interventions, family communication and education, coordination of multidisciplinary team to assess and care for the patient, care for the inpatients, discharge planning, outpatient follow-ups, as well as pertinent data management for the program/clinic for research, outcomes, and/or reporting purposes. What you will do
- Provides education to a highly specialized patient population and their families. Educates the community and others as part of the specialized multidisciplinary team. Creates and disseminates educational material for families and staff as observed by clinic manager.
- Stays up to date on research and evidence based practices as related to nutrition and pediatric care.
- Coordinates all activity for identification, evaluation, and presentation of potential patients according to departmental policy as observed by clinical chief or attending physician. Maintains scheduling of outpatient appointments, necessary testing, and visits in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assures that all patient care and testing are coordinated with consultants and primary care physicians.
- Provides patients and families consistent and complete follow up information including:
- o Signs and symptoms of difficulties, and follow up appointments on an ongoing basis as observed by clinic manager.
- o Ensures that physician orders are carried out appropriately and that results of all diagnostic tests are collected and reported to physician in a timely manner.
- o Coordinates interdisciplinary team conference to review cases and determine agreed upon plan of care.
- Acts as a patient advocate in maintaining communication and promoting continuity of care between clinical program and referring and community physicians.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with patient, patient support system, peers, physicians and other hospital departments.
- Maintains a database of potential patients.
- Performs the clinical duties of a pediatric dietitian in the evaluation and treatment of patients across the continuum of care.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Dietetics required
- Master's Degree Dietetics
Experience Qualifications
- 3-5 years Registered dietitian
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and ability to apply all steps of the process.
- Comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy, specifically related to pediatrics.
- Comprehensive knowledge, application, and advancement of formularies for preterm, infant, preschool, school age, adolescent, adult, and metabolic and other disease specialty formulas
- Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office program (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
- Proficient in ketogenic diet calculators and other nutrition analysis programs.
- Must be able to teach basic self-management skills to the patient and family.
- Effectively communicates in writing and orally with patients/families and other health team members.
- Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principals, concepts, techniques and processes.
- Analytical skills necessary to assess complex patient conditions effectively and to develop comprehensive plans of care.
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to synthesize multiple sources of information to assist in the resolution of human responses to complex problems.
- Ability to build relationships and motivate a team to provide education to patients, family and staff.

Physical Demands
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
