Job Summary

This position is responsible for Construction, Operation and Maintenance on T&D equipment and facilities within an assigned area. This includes protection and control equipment and systems and substation equipment and facilities. Also, responsible for serving as the Transmission Liaison for Generation facilities within the assigned area.

What You'll Do:

  • Supervise, lead, direct, and/or coordinate the operation and maintenance of existing Transmission protection and control, station, and line equipment within approved maintenance guidelines and allocated O&M budgets.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of CNP work control policies and procedures. Coordinate safety and technical training for switchyard personnel.

  • Participate in CNP scheduling meetings and TFS planning meetings as required to ensure that T&D construction and maintenance activities are appropriately prioritized in overall plant schedules. Ensure reliability compliance obligations are scheduled and completed.

  • Supervise, lead, direct, and/or coordinate the installation and commissioning of new Transmission protection and control equipment station, and line equipment and facilities within approved project schedules and budgets.

  • Prepare and implement annual Station/P&C O&M and construction work plans for switchyard activities and ensure proper documentation within the asset database.

  • Ensure Transmission reliability and NERC compliance obligations are scheduled, completed and documented. This includes all Station and Protection and Control activities and equipment.

  • Responsible for scheduling and coordinating maintenance and construction activities with Generation facilities within the assigned area.

  • Assist with and advise on restoration efforts during equipment failures or storms to return facilities to service.

  • Consult with and provide input to the Technical Service support group for the development and scheduling of annual maintenance work plans.

  • Support and hold employees and contractors accountable for the AEP System Safety Process, ensuring a safe working environment focused on Zero Harm.

  • Supervise the development of project cost and man-hour estimates for construction. Authorize construction work by contract forces, including verification of work performed.

  • Supervise the review of relay and control schemes for proper application to ensure proper operation and protection of all equipment

  • Procure equipment, materials, tools and spare parts required for the installation, maintenance, and operation of station and protection and control related facilities.

  • Ensure adherence to established procedures, methods, and standards to properly and safely maintain transmission facilities.

  • Ensure proper training, mentoring, and employee development for direct reports.

  • Recommend promotion, demotion, transfer, selection and dismissal of personnel.

  • Ensure reliability compliance obligations are scheduled and completed for plant Auxiliary power systems and appropriate documentation is added IPS.

  • Serve as Transmission Liaison to Customer Owned equipment at Rockport Works. Assure contract requirements are fulfilled, and proper documentation of work is provided to the customer.

  • Assure compliance with the Inter-Organization Agreement between AEP Utilities

What We're Looking For:

Prefer Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline and typically 5 years related work experience; or an Associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology with 8 years experience in various phases of station construction, operation and maintenance; or high school education or equivalent education and fifteen years work experience in various phases of station construction, operation and maintenance or related fields.

Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: Valid driver's license.

$112,869.00-146,730.50 USD
