Old Dominion is searching for a Payroll/Human Resources supervisor to join our OD Family Culture. This supervisor is responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient processing of all payroll/HR related documentation. Maintain close contact with corporate human resources to ensure compliance with Old Dominion policies and procedures, and state/federal employment laws and regulations. This position oversees the distribution of employees pay and compiles payroll information by managing payroll preparation, completing reports, and maintaining reports. This position oversees the hiring and termination of employees and must know the procedures in both processes. The payroll/human resources supervisor works with the management team and their HR staff to ensure the highest level of morale and productivity.
Responsibilities:
Manage weekly payroll, status changes, and wage/salary administration.
Check and analyze HR/payroll related options in SAP.
Manage all new employee application processes (scheduling new hires for interviews, prepare and post internal and external job openings, and overseeing the hiring process).
Knowledgeable in OD’s hiring process (background checks, checking MVR’s, and proper methods for kiosk entry).
Conduct pre-employment testing, check references, and arrange pre-employment drug screens.
Coordinate driver drug testing, physicals, ensure DOT compliance, and maintain DOT driver files.
Track and audit employee leaves and entitlements (non-pay, call-ins, no calls no shows, vacation, and all-purpose days).
Answer employee’s questions concerning benefits, insurance, and 401-k enrollments.
Timely filing of FMLA, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability and Worker’s Compensation cases (Employee Incidents (A2 reports)); communicate clearly with each impacted employee.
Responsible for ordering and processing employee orders and distributing uniforms to department personnel.
Qualifications:
Education: GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
Previous Experience: Imperative to have worked in the trucking industry. Familiar with the AS400 operating system and SAP.
3+ years’ experience in a Human Resources environment with focus on recruitment, payroll, and wellness/benefits.
Must have time management, organizational, and leadership skills.
Must have at least 1-3 years in a supervisor role.
