Job Summary:
Position is responsible for preparing and processing payroll for biweekly Canada for both union and non-union employees. This role is part of the Canadian payroll team working in our corporate Canadian headquarters.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complete full cycle payroll for 9 units 2,300+ employees
• Process and distribute payroll in a timely manner.
• Process manual and miscellaneous cheques.
• Maintain payroll records, process properly approved payroll record changes.
• Answer and/or research payroll inquiries from employees and managers.
• Analyze and process payroll garnishments.
• Perform payroll reconciliations.
• Daily data entry of payroll information.
• Ad hoc projects as assigned.
• Understand and support 9 separate collective agreements
• Process Record of Employments (ROEs) and termination pay in a timely manner and in accordance with the Employment Standards Act (ESA)
• Run Monthly Union reports and request payments
• Prepare and distribute biweekly and monthly payroll files to all units, finance and Union
Qualifications
Education:
• High School Diploma
Work Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year of full cycle payroll and payroll software experience – experience using Workday is preferred - plus a minimum 1 year in an accounting related role
• Post-secondary degree with concentration in accounting and working towards/have a PCP designation will be considered an asset.
• Proficiency in Excel a must, with demonstrated skill in V-Look Ups, Pivot Tables.

• Experience in payroll processing, with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance and meeting deadlines
• Tech-savvy, with a high level of comfort using payroll systems
• Deliver accurate and timely payroll in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple payroll cycles
• Communicate effectively and professionally with employees, leadership, and cross-functional teams
• Detail-oriented, results-driven, and demonstrate a strong sense of urgency when resolving payroll discrepancies and meeting critical deadlines
Language / Communication Skills:
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must have the ability to communicate and disclose data in an accurate manner
