Payroll Specialist

Remote Full Time

AirSculpt is seeking a Payroll Specialist! The Payroll Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and administering a comprehensive and compliant payroll process. This role oversees all aspects of payroll operations, including standard payroll processing, commissions, bonuses, and incentive compensation, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to regulatory and internal control requirements. The ideal candidate has payroll expertise with strong process discipline, documentation rigor, and experience operating in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities: 

Payroll Process Design & Governance

  • Design and implement a complete payroll framework, including policies, workflows, controls, and documentation.
  • Establish payroll calendars, approval processes, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Reporting to HR and partnering with finance, will ensure payroll processes align with compensation programs, accounting standards, and compliance obligations.

Payroll Operations

  • Process regular payroll cycles accurately and on schedule for salaried, hourly, exempt, and non-exempt employees.
  • Administer complex compensation components, including commissions, bonuses, equity-related payments (if applicable), and other variable incentive plans.
  • Review payroll inputs for completeness, accuracy, and authorization prior to processing.
  • Ensure accurate deductions, benefits, garnishments, and tax withholdings.

Compliance, Controls & Audit Readiness

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Maintain payroll processes and documentation that support internal audit requirements.
  • Prepare reconciliations, control evidence, and support materials for internal and external audits.

Systems & Financial Integration

  • Support the selection, configuration, and optimization of payroll systems and integrations with HRIS, timekeeping, and financial systems.
  • Reconcile payroll results to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies in partnership with Finance.
  • Maintain secure, accurate payroll records in compliance with data privacy and retention requirements.

Other

  • When payroll processing is not in progress, the Payroll Processor will support HR-related tasks and projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 

  • 4+ years of payroll processing experience, including end-to-end payroll processing, preferably in a multi-state environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building, documenting, or significantly enhancing payroll processes.
  • Experience administering commissions, bonuses, or other variable compensation structures.
  • High level of accuracy, discretion, and accountability.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws, including final pay requirements
  • Experience processing payroll from start to finish, including timecard auditing and payroll reconciliation
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll compliance, and an ability to interpret and apply compliance regulations accurately
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally
  • Ability to operate independently in a remote environment
  • Ability to work standard business hours with flexibility during payroll processing, quarter-end, and year-end cycles

Preferred but Not Required:

  • Experience processing payroll in the Paychex platform.
  • Multi-entity payroll experience.
  • Payroll certification (CPP, FPC).
  • Multi-state payroll experience.
  • Familiarity with enterprise payroll and HRIS platforms.
  • Experience supporting audits and financial close cycles.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to sit or stand intermittently for the duration of a shift (8-12 hours)
  • Push/pull/lift up to 25 pounds

Compensation

$31.25-33.00/hr DOE. Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and relevant licenses or certifications.
