The Payroll Senior will be part of a collaborative and customer-focused team to support on-time and accurate bi-weekly payroll processing. This includes responsibility for ensuring that all payroll expenditures are reconciled, and with appropriate approvals are processed timely and accurately according to regulatory requirements and corporate timelines. This role works closely with Legal, Finance, and other divisions to ensure that all regulatory, accounting and compensation deadlines are met. This position works on various payroll activities under limited direction and is expected to independently provide thought leadership and is solutions oriented. This role serves as one of the principal customer payroll contacts.
Responsibilities include:
• Ensure all input, reconciliation and proofing activities for the biweekly payroll are completed timely and accurately. Tasks are rotated between payroll staff to ensure cross training.
• Coordinate payroll biweekly activities to finalize the pay cycle timely and accurately on a rotational schedule.
• Document and maintain updated processes and procedures for primary responsibilities.
• Act as primary liaison with payroll partners to ensure accurate and timely filing and funding for pay, tax and benefits.
• Work with Legal, employees and outside regulatory agencies to ensure wage withholdings are accurately and timely processed withheld and paid.
• Verify compliance with federal, state and local tax withholding and filing requirements, staying current with payroll legislation and statutory requirements. May be required to deal with tax settlement agreements and other tax issues
• Responsible for ongoing payroll audits to ensure accuracy of payroll gross to net system calculation.
• Provide customer support with wide range of potential complex payroll questions and follow through to resolution.
• Assist in system testing for HRIS updates.
The payroll team is responsible for ensuring all employees are paid correctly as well as ensuring taxes, benefits and financial reporting is processed timely and accurately.
Assist in ensuring regulatory compliance with labor laws and Freddie Mac policies by monitoring various processes as well as identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies in the payroll process.
• 4-7 years related experience in a fast-paced payroll department
• College degree or equivalent experience
• Strong MS Office experience – with a focus on Excel skills (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)
• Payroll experience with Withholding Orders (garnishments), Payroll tax, Time & Labor regulations
• Workday (preferred)
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification (preferred)
• Must be available to work extended hours when necessary
• Ability to work special projects when necessary
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.

• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task, set priorities under tight timelines.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $93,000 - $139,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
