The person hired on this position ensures the efficient and accurate processing of payroll operations across assigned markets. This includes coordinating with the Outsourced Service Provider and relevant teams to meet legislative reporting deadlines and collaborating with GPO Partners to drive automation and innovation in payroll processes. The role involves approving payrolls of various markets, acting as a backup for cross-regional payroll operations, and leading audit inquiries and SOX testing.

The BMS HR Service Delivery Model is a shared services model, and this role will interface with Business Partners, Compensation, Savings Plan & Benefits, Financial Shared Services General Accounting, GPO as well as our Outsourced Service Providers.

The person is responsible for overseeing management of employee queries through SNOW, ensuring timely responses and eliminating backlogs, while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders. Ensures compliance with payroll policies and SLAs, in partnership with GPO and Senior Payroll Manager, leads payroll system implementations for acquisitions, and stays current with industry trends and best practices. Leads project testing and implementation, prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of monthly payroll processes in the assigned markets to ensure smooth workflow, timely and accurate processing of payroll operations.
  • In collaboration with Outsourced Service Provider and relevant teams coordinate payroll reporting submissions to meet legislative deadlines.
  • Collaborate with GPO Partners and the Senior Payroll Manager to propose and implement payroll delivery process improvements and automation, focusing on innovation strategy.
  • Approval and sign off various markets’ payrolls.
  • Acting as a payroll cross-regional back up.
  • Leading audit (internal and external) inquiries and SOX payroll-related testing for assigned markets.
  • Partner with the Outsourced Service Provider, HR and Finance teams and liaison with other vendors to resolve complex queries.
  • Coordinate the inquiries related to payroll, ensuring responses are delivered in a timely manner. Where required follow up with vendors or escalate to Senior Manager.
  • Oversee management of employee queries via SNOW to ensure timely responses and eliminate backlogs and manage complex cases requiring cooperation with various stakeholders.
  • Identify areas that may require involvement and management of other HR teams, aligning responsibilities accordingly.
  • Build & maintain long-term relationships with customers & key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Outsourced Service Provider regarding all policies, programs and processes related to payroll.
  • Work with service provider to ensure they are achieving SLAs.
  • Together with GPO and Senior Payroll Manager, leading the implementation of payroll system solutions for acquisitions.
  • Proactively develop and maintain technical knowledge in payrolls, remaining up-to-date on current trends and best practices.
  • Interface with payroll and benefits vendors, as needed, to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Full understanding of all payroll inputs and how they correlate to the pay slip and taxation of same.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Lead project testing and implementation as needed.
  • Prioritize and allocate payroll requirements based on tight deadlines.
  • Assist with other payroll tasks, as needed.

Must have requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Payroll, Payroll Tax, and Payroll Accounting and related end to end processes.
  • Proven hands-on experience in managing French payroll processes.
  • Fluency in French, both written and spoken.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, HRBPs and People Services team members.
  • Degree preferred in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with end-to-end payroll processing including: time management, leave administration, registration, pay processing, payroll taxes, reporting, and experience dealing with payroll queries and issues from employees.
  • Must be customer-focused and comfortable working with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and provide timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Must be well organized with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding deadlines.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong SAP Payroll technical expertise including integration points with Organizational Management and Personnel Administration and SAP Finance is preferred.

Preferred requirements:

  • Experience with AI technologies and automation in payroll processes.
  • Experience in DSN analysis and reconciliations is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in payroll reconciliations of RSUs, including for international assignees.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Previous experience working in a shared services environment preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects and daily planned and unplanned operational activities.
  • The successful candidate must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience using Workday Human Capital Management (HCM).
  • Strong project management and leadership skills are very desirable.
