Position Highlights:
Position: Patient Support Assistant
Location: Swedish Hospital
Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5:30pm
Required Travel: Travel based on department needs
What you will do:
Manage front desk and waiting area communication from front to back office to move patients through their visits and support the clinical team.
Answer all incoming telephone calls to the department from patients, physicians, and other departments while handling each as appropriate in accordance with NorthShore telephone customer service standards and practice protocols including documenting in Epic telephone encounters
Utilize Epic to schedule and register patients for multiple providers, sites and services
Obtain prior authorization, records and orders as needed to ensure patients arrival to the department to be seamless
Familiarize yourself with physician preferences, physician availability, practice visit types, and practice protocols
Obtain prior authorization as needed
Review department templates daily to ensure patient access and template efficient utilization. Informing Practice Manager of concerns
Provide other administrative support under the direction of the Physicians and Practice Manager
What you will need:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
Certification: N/A
Experience: 1 – 2 years in an administrative/customer service preferred, EPIC knowledge and experience preferred. Enjoy working at a fast past with the capacity to multi-task, displays flexibility, take initiative, and utilize multiple resources to support the role
