1. High School Diploma/GED.

1. Provides constant observation and monitoring of assigned patients to ensure safety and prevention of injury.
2. Receives report from the RN/Charge RN, including any patient specific behaviors to monitor.
3. Courteously greets patients and their visitors, identifies self, and explains purpose utilizing AIDET communication model.
4. Observes and reports to the RN/Charge RN all patient concerns or changes in condition.
5. Promptly calls for assistance as needed.
6. Alerts RN/Charge RN if patient needs to use the restroom.
7. Does not leave patient unless relieved by another staff member.
8. Notifies RN/Charge RN if tubes, IV, catheter, etc. become disconnected.
9. Reports defective equipment to RN/Charge RN.
10. Maintains a safe orderly and well-equipped environment.
11. Keeps patient room neat and orderly.
12. Evaluates patient’s environment for possible hazards and removes the hazards.
13. Washes hands before and after patient contact and follows personal protective equipment (PPE) as appropriate.
14. Follows isolation procedures according to the Infection Control Policy.
15. Competently utilizes technology to document as appropriate.
16. Demonstrates understanding of the use of unit technology i.e. call systems, bed controls and TV controls.
