Position Purpose:
The Patient Registration Representative greets patients/family members and obtains and/or verifies demographic, clinical, financial and insurance information in the process of registering patients for service delivery, including the entry of patient/guarantor information in the patient accounting system, collection of patient signatures on all appropriate forms and the imaging/copying of registration documents. Conducts online insurance eligibility/benefit verification on designated cases, notifies patient/guarantor of charge estimates and collects patient liabilities.
What you will do:
Welcomes all customers entering Forest Park Radiology by immediately making eye contact and smiling. Provides information regarding Forest Park and directs them to the proper area in a friendly and courteous manner.
Responsible for validating/obtaining and entering demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information into the patient accounting system by interviewing the patient, family member and/or guarantor. Performs activities that are related to registration for multiple patient types. Asks each patient fall risk questions.
Scans patients’ drivers’ licenses, insurance cards, physician orders and consent forms into Epic.
Completes patient secure palm scanning as required.
Prepares patient estimate and informs patient/guarantor of their liabilities. Collects co-pays and money toward deductibles, fills out receipts and deposit slips, makes deposits and completes daily log. Completes the account balance sheet and the reconciliation sheet at the end of each month and completes it on the computer for the Finance department
Prepares identification bracelets and patient ID labels. Obtains/scans patient/guarantor signatures on required forms (ID cards, insurance cards, consent to treatment, etc.).

Full Time - Days - 7:30 - 4:00
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma required.
At minimum six months post high school education preferred.
Experience:
Past work experience of at least 1 year within a healthcare provider and/or payer environment, performing patient access and/or customer services activities are preferred.
Special Skills and Competencies:
Annual assessment of competency is completed every year.
Must be able to read, write and/or speak English.
Computer/PC experience/skills are required.
Typing (40 words per minute) or data entry (50-60 keystrokes per minute) preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology desired.
Excellent communication skills verbal & written, interpersonal skills are necessary in dealing with internal and external customers, including the ability to interpret customer requirements, recommend and take action to satisfy the customer's
