Position Summary / Career Interest:

Under the direction of the Supervisor this position is responsible for preparing meals for patients, visitors and employees. The position will also clean and sanitize work stations and equipment as per regulatory rules and procedures and stock items in the food service department

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Assists supervisor with engaging employees in maintaining cleanliness of food service areas and equipment.
  • Trains workers in performance of duties; assigns and coordinates work of employees to promote efficiency of operations.
  • Monitors meals to ensure quality and presentation are up to standard.
  • Maintains patient diet orders, communicates with nursing staff and dietician on call with any questions or concerns pertaining to diet orders and or changes.
  • Takes weekly inventory of foodstuff to ensure proper supply is on hand; also ensures standard of quality is met with foodstuff on hand.
  • Performs Food Preparer responsibilities as needed.
  • Adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assists supervisor with inventory and distribution of hospital resources (time, supplies, equipment, etc.)
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

  • 1 or more years of experience as a cook, dietary aide, or food service.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • 3 or more years of related experience.
