J71, J72, and J73 are cardiovascular step-down telemetry monitored units. The three units make up a total of 73 beds: J71-25 beds; J72-24 beds; and J73-24 beds. These fast-paced nursing units provide nursing care to a select medical cardiac patient population, which includes Myocardial infarction, Post cardiac intervention, Chronic heart failure, Dysrhythmia management, and Pulmonary hypertension.
J7-1 Cardiac Stepdown is a 25-bed unit. (J7-3 - 24 beds. They can float after orientation.) For nights, there would be 6 RNs and 2 PCNAs. Nurses will assist as well. Patients can be critical although they can get a variety of acuities. Example: Bedridden /walking / overnight, etc. May not be as evident as they are ill - heart related. Patients can be from anywhere is US
A caregiver in this position works nights| 7:00pm—7:30am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period)
Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
