Job Title: Patient Care Assistant

Salary: Above £28329– dependent on experience 

Location: Village Vet Highgate

Job Type: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract

Hours: Full-time, 42 hour working week.

Working 8 hour shifts either 8am-4.30pm, 9.30am-6pm, 11am-7.30pm.

1 in 3 Saturday mornings

1 x Bank holiday/year at the Hampstead Hospital.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic animal lover to be part of our current Patient Care Assistant team, working enthusiastically to help maintain a happy, efficient, and effective working environment. You will work alongside our 3 vets, 2 RVN, 1 SVN, and receptionist to deliver gold standard care to all our patients.

Our Patient Care Assistants undertake a variety of duties as directed by the Veterinary Surgeons and/or Registered Veterinary Nurses and duties or responsibilities include:

  • Assist with reception and client care to include answering the telephone, dealing with enquiries, booking procedures and taking payments.
  • Infection control
  • Preparing and maintaining patient accommodation
  • Assisting with patient handling and restraint.
  • Monitoring, recording and providing supportive care to patients, under the direction of the Veterinary Surgeon or Registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Assisting with diagnostic techniques to include preparation of equipment, processing and/or packaging for external laboratories.
  • Maintenance of theatre to include preparation of the environment and equipment and cleaning, packaging and sterilisation of sterile supplies.
  • Assist with the management of the pharmacy to include unpacking of orders, stock rotation and environmental temperatures.
