QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Preferred:

High school diploma

College degree


Experience
Required: One year experience in hospital patient admission/registration functions and/or revenue cycle operations, and customer service in a supervisory or lead capacity.



Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to work very well with public.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, outside customers, and all Kaweah Health staff in a positive and tactful manner.
Knowledge of CAHHS Consent manual, Joint Commission and outside regulatory agency requirements.
Recognizes problems and opportunities as they occur and recommends appropriate measures.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential

Ensures that all efforts are made to provide value to and meet the needs of departmental customers. Consistently operates as a productive member of a fully supportive and cooperative service department. Understands the importance of customer service and readily identifies departmental customers and their needs in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner. Proactively and critically analyzes the departmental processes and makes continuous improvements. Constantly strives to enhance and add value to individual and departmental efforts through increased efficiency, productivity and quality.

Ensures efficient supervision of registration operations and quality services to other Kaweah Health departments, physicians and the public.

Responsible for interviewing and hiring competent staff. Reviews all new applicants and/or transfers. Conducts interviews and, if warranted, schedules secondary interview to include other Supervisor(s) of area staff members.

Responsible for ensuring appropriate coverage of any area of Patient Access where it requires, 24 hour/7 day week coverage. This includes the development of the monthly schedule. Brings any unresolved issues to the attention of the Director.

Responsible for preparation of staff performance evaluations. Conducts the performance evaluation by the required due date.
Provides ongoing feedback and constructive counseling and guidance to staff throughout performance period.

Implements and monitors department standards and ensures high productivity of supervised staff.

Identifies problems and pursues opportunities for improvement using creativity and innovation. Promotes teamwork in problem solving. Develops consensus. Provides others with a feeling of ownership and recognition in their proposals.

Holds regular team meetings to provide information to staff regarding organization and departmental updates and changes. Communicates Kaweah Health cornerstone goals, Kaweah Care initiatives, strategies, policies and other pertinent information. Keeps staff regularly informed.

Maintains legal standards of Patient Access in accordance with the California Consent Laws, The Joint Commission and all other state and federal laws.

Monitors staff's adherence to attendance, tardiness, and clocking in or out policies. Informs Director of any staff who will be counseled. All disciplinary actions must be monitored for consistency. Director must give final approval of disciplinary actions.



Additional

Reviews and approves timekeeping for staff. Effectively manages overtime and minimizes timekeeping issues. Keeps Director apprised of any overtime and provides explanation/justification.?

Provides orientation, in-services and continuing education for staff. Ensures that all mandatory tests and certifications are up-to-date.

Ensures that staff is equipped with proper work tools (i.e., facilitates computer and workstations problems, software, internet access).

Completes periodic audits of registrations and staff work to ensure high quality work product.

Works closely with the Quality Assurance Specialist to review audit findings, provides timely feedback to staff, sets clear expectations for corrective actions.

Able to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, physician's office staff and Kaweah Health staff members. Maintains good relationships and cooperation with other departments.

Conforms to the patient confidentially standards. Communicates importance for patient privacy to staff.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.

Pay Range

$33.27 -$49.90
