Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
- Greet patients/families in a professional and welcoming manner
- Performs scheduling and registration process for appointments within the ambulatory setting
- Functions as a liaison between patients, families, and intradepartmental staff
- Performs check-in and check-out for patient visits
- Abides by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights
- Obtain accurate collection of patient demographics, identification, insurance coverage, and other relevant information
- Ensures patient receives necessary disclosure and privacy information, as well as obtains necessary legal and financial signatures
- Promote and assist patients/families in signing up for MyChart
- Provide guidance to patient/families about the financial screening process
- Performs patient intake/referral process; appropriately scheduling patient appointments according to scheduling algorithm/protocols
- Maintains and distributes incoming departmental faxes
- Screens and routes inbound/outbound calls in a timely manner (messages, transfers, scheduling, questions, and other needs)
- Scanning of clinical record information and correspondence into patient’s electronic record
- Maintains scheduling, registration, and referral work queues in Epic
- Maintains registration related key performance indicators as determined by supervisor or manager
- Performs scheduling of new and/or follow-up patient visits, including but not limited to diagnostic, and ancillary appointments (as needed); may require coordination with clinical team
- Maintains patient information and documentation in electronic medical record
- Supports hospital and departmental performance improvement goals
- Supports quality care through compliance with departmental and organizational policies and guidelines, and external agency guidelines, standards, or regulations
- Supports departmental initiatives and change efforts
- Practices financial and resource stewardship
- Engages in strong communication and acts as team player in supporting mission and vision of organization
- Additional duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
- High School education or equivalent
- Preferred 2 years working in a medical office setting
- Preferred experience in insurance procedures
- Preferred experience in medical appointment scheduling
- Strong written and verbal communication skills preferred
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills preferred
Work Environment
- Working conditions: inside.
