WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Transformation Division ensures TNTP’s work evolves alongside the shifting needs of students and the systems that serve them. We collaborate across teams to elevate student success---by strengthening core services, incubating breakthrough approaches to accelerate learning and scaling promising models that dramatically improve learner outcomes on the national stage. Grounded in the science of learning and guided by the realities students face today, we translate research into action, challenge outdated measures of success, and design solutions that create opportunities for learners today and into the future. Our charge is not incremental improvement, but bold, catalytic transformation---shaping education and adjacent systems to come together to unlock academic, social, and economic mobility for all learners.
The Mobility Research Lab, situated in the Transformation Division, is the organization’s research engine that builds evidence, validates innovation, and reveals the drivers of mobility to ensure we are measuring what matters. The Mobility Research Lab turns research into action through: 1) Rapid-cycle testing and proof-of-concept; 2) Longitudinal studies grounded in real classrooms; 3) Evidence-based guidance for funders and policymakers; and 4) Field-shaping insights that strengthen the ecosystem.
The Partner, Mobility Research Lab is a critical leader at TNTP - executing and publicizing high-leverage research aligned to TNTP’s National Research & Learning Agenda; establishing a longitudinal data strategy that measures learner access and real-world capabilities; and cultivating internal and external relationships that ensure the sustainability of the Lab and its priorities. Key responsibilities include leading:
Mobility Research & Learning:
Execute TNTP’s National Research and Learning Agenda through studies that integrate research, innovation, and practice to generate actionable knowledge, validate breakthrough models, and accelerate system transformation.
Translate practice-grounded insights from TNTP’s client-facing portfolio to strengthen the evidence base for high-impact service models and practices; provide rigorous proof of concept for emerging innovations; leverage longitudinal research to inform scaling decisions; and model and map the drivers of economic and social mobility.
Collaborate across TNTP divisions to connect research with field-shaping strategy and organizational learning goals.
Produce field-facing publications that offer actionable, scalable solutions and amplify TNTP’s North Star.
Secure fundraising and research partnerships to support studies aligned to the research objectives outlined in the National Research & Learning Agenda.
Lead TNTP’s longitudinal data strategy for defining and measuring whether students are on a path to economic and social mobility, using the Mobility Opportunity Scorecard to surface patterns and trajectories and translate results to actionable recommendations and service strategies.
Lead the design and rollout of the organization’s longitudinal data strategy, infrastructure, and reporting, beginning with TNTP’s Student Mobility Experiences Survey, a first-of its kind tool designed to capture students’ academic, social, and career experiences over time.
Establish national benchmark and longitudinal baselines of student mobility experiences by triangulating practice-based insights with mobility tools (e.g., TNTP’s Student Mobility Experiences Survey and Mobility Opportunity Scorecard).
Manage a national dataset for the field, enabling year-over-year comparisons of mobility experiences.
Leverage longitudinal data to inform how TNTP refines services based on evidence of what most improves student capabilities.
Build predictive models that connect student experiences to outcomes.
Sustainability and Business Development
Building and executing a revenue-generation strategy aligned to our strategic priorities and demand in the field.
Building a strong network of external stakeholders and partnerships to help promote TNTP’s services and brand and to aid in business development.
Building an understanding of the services TNTP offers aligned to our strategic plan in order to talk to current and prospective clients and funders about our work.
Listening and being responsive to the needs of current and prospective clients and funders to design services that best meet the needs of our learners and clients. Motivating and influencing in the sales process aligned to best practices in the field to maximize impact.
Organizational and Team Leadership
Collaborate as a member of organization and division management teams to shape staff experience, organizational learning, and the fiscal health of the division.
Collaborate with divisions across the organization to optimize technology integration, strategic growth opportunities, and thought leadership.
Manage a diverse team and building an inclusive culture – utilizing excellent management and people development skills - to ensure that your team reaches its ambitious goals.
Ensure that staff have a positive experience aligned with our Employee Value Proposition.
Serve as a trusted thought partner to education and policy leaders seeking to design research agendas focused on economic and social mobility.
Qualifications
Excellent understanding of research and applied research methods and a familiarity with recent research literature in areas related to improving young people’s experiences and outcomes.
A successful track record of using research findings to improve experiences and outcomes for young people of color, young people experiencing poverty, multilingual learners, and/or young people with learning and thinking differences.
Extensive experience leading and managing research- or data-based projects, including an ability to convert broad questions to actionable analytical approaches and high-quality data stories.
Deep study and a track record of leading with inclusion at the forefront.
Senior-level experience leading complex organizational change efforts, including the ability to develop a clear vision and purposeful strategy to achieve ambitious goals.
Excellent management skills, including experience effectively managing analytic and research team staff and developing talent.
Excellent project management skills and an ability to work efficiently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
The salary range for this position is $154,800 - $232,200. New hires can typically expect a starting salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint ($154,800-$193,500), in alignment with experience, qualifications, and our commitment to equity in compensation.
