JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
This six-month appointment, running from December 31, 2025 through June 30, 2026, focuses on advancing our understanding of the role of thermodynamics in black hole mergers, with particular emphasis on the maximum entropy principle. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in theoretical physics and have expertise in one or more core areas of general relativity and gravitation. Strong applicants will have a solid grasp of black hole physics—especially black hole thermodynamics—along with experience in the post-Newtonian description of binary black hole systems and in analyzing numerical-relativity simulations of binary black hole mergers. The position will involve close collaboration on theoretical modeling, interpretation of simulation results, and the development of new conceptual frameworks connecting gravitational dynamics with thermodynamic principles.
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
