JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Rovniak Lab at the Penn State College of Medicine within the Department of Medicine, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a part-time research assistant for assistance with data cleaning, analyses, and manuscript writing. This position will involve preparing manuscripts using datasets from prior-completed and ongoing studies, including two randomized controlled trials that aimed to increase physical activity among adults with sedentary occupations.
Responsibilities include: 1) cleaning, organizing and preparing study datasets for analysis; 2) conducting literature reviews to support analysis and manuscript preparation; 3) assisting with statistical analysis and working closely with statisticians to interpret findings; 4) leading and preparing abstracts and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication; 5) creating tables, figures, and supplemental materials for manuscripts; 6) attending study team meetings to review data analysis and writing progress; and 7) assisting with other project-related support activities.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in physical activity or health promotion research and prior experience working on clinical trials or behavioral research studies. Prior research experience with statistical programming, literature reviews, and manuscript writing, as well as Spanish-language proficiency is strongly preferred. In addition, the ideal candidate will have the following traits: detail-oriented and precise; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong organizational skills; and strong writing skills.
