JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Penn State Center for Living Multifunctional Materials Systems (LiMC2) invites applications for a part-time position to provide essential support in advancing the Center’s research, education, and outreach initiatives. This position offers up to 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling. It is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an interdisciplinary and internationally connected research center dedicated to creating bioinspired, sustainable, and adaptive materials systems.
This is an especially exciting time to engage in interdisciplinary ideas in the bio-based and bio-inspired research space. The successful candidate will join a team working across materials science, engineering, biology, and sustainability, and will help drive emerging interdisciplinary initiatives in collaboration with the LiMC2 leadership team.
Job Duties-
- Research project management for various LiMC2 projects, including maintaining regular contact with our research partners abroad and nationally, setting up meetings and webinars, maintaining documents, and creating and implementing project timelines.
- Support interdisciplinary efforts, especially those related to bio-based and bio-inspired materials and collaborate closely with the LiMC2 leadership team to help advance new initiatives across campus and with global partners.
- Assist center researchers in grant proposal writing, such as table and figure co-creation, data analysis, and content writing.
- Aid in other related duties, such as managing our international research education programs, and contributing overall to the center's growth.
Requirements and Qualifications-
- Graduate degree preferred.
- Ability to engage in positive, professional, and welcoming interactions with a wide range of people.
- Demonstrated excellent time management skills. We are a busy team and count on each other to deliver high-quality projects on time. Experience using Microsoft Office 365 suite and knowledge of creative and web communication tools, such as Adobe Creative Cloud suite, WordPress, and others and video conferencing technologies (Zoom, Teams).
- Problem-solve with critical thinking and in a self-starting manner, proactively addressing gaps in provided instructions.
- Interest in proposal development and management.
- Organize, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
- Able to work in a team environment and able to work independently on assigned tasks
- Clear, open, and honest communication adhering to Penn State values.
