Part-Time Lecturer for AP6401 Principles of Game Design

The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified candidates to apply as Part-time Lecturer for AP6401 Principles of Game Design. The Part-time Lecturer is expected to teach a Postgraduate course commencing in August 2026.

AP6401 Principles of Game Design is a 13-week course where students experience the full process of creative game design. Students will work with fundamental principles such as visual style, themes, genres, originality, player agency, game mechanics, simple coding, and game prototype development. This learning provides students with the experience of designing, building, and pitching a game demo, establishing a foundation they can apply to further studies in the programme.

Applicants to this position will be able to demonstrate expertise in overseeing the end-to-end development of game projects, from initial concept and mechanic design to simple coding, prototyping, and the final pitch. Applicants will be able to demonstrate passion in guiding students through the stages of defining clear player goals and exploring original artistic or technical concepts. You will support students in bringing their unique creative contributions to life through a functional game demo.

Candidates should have a relevant Master’s and/or PhD in Game Design, Interactive Media, or a related field with a track record of creative practice in the gaming industry. Past teaching experience at the Undergraduate Level is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor degree in Game Design or a related field and sufficient and relevant industry experience (such as e.g.,lead design/animation or indie development) may also be considered in exceptional cases.
