JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State is hiring a part-time web developer to support a recently funded NSF project through website design, development, and maintenance. The hired individual will work with the project team to test, debug, and troubleshoot applications; and ensure the rigorous application of accessibility policies, principles, and practices.  This will be a remote/ hybrid position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, debug, modify, and/or support website   
  • Work with users to analyze their requirements; participate in project planning efforts  
  • Provide end-user consultation, functional support, training, documentation, and guidance  
  • Investigate application and website issues; perform root cause analysis, take corrective actions  
  • Monitor applications and websites for quality standards; ensure University standards, accessibility requirements, coding practices, and security are being adhered to  
  • Develop application and website components, features, modules, and templates  

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Familiarity with GitHub and basic version control practices
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest or experience in accessibility and UI/UX improvements
  • Strong written communication and organizational skill

Pay Rate:
$15–$25/hour (based on experience). Weekly hours are flexible and will be set in coordination with the selected individual’s availability.
