Job Description:

College for Kids at Aims Community College provides an enrichment summer program for students ages 9-12. The classes offered by this program are educational and inspiring in a fun, creative, and inviting environment. Each location's schedule runs Monday-Thursday, with participants taking two classes with a lunch break. Morning courses will run from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Afternoon courses will run from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm. Instructors will teach the same class in the morning and the afternoon for all four days. Instructors will work from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm with a modified schedule on Mondays and Thursdays to allow for class setup and breakdown. Candidates selected to instruct are expected to be available to teach all four weeks, pending facility availability at each location.

College for Kids will have sessions at the Aims Community College campuses at Fort Lupton, Windsor, and Greeley. The Loveland sessions will be at Peakview Academy:

Loveland at Peakview Academy at Conrad Ball Middle School: June 1st - 4th
Fort Lupton: June 8th - 11th
Windsor: June 15th - 18th
Greeley: June 22nd - 25th

Key Responsibilities:

The College for Kids (C4K) Instructor is responsible for providing creative, engaging, and organized instruction to C4K students. The instructor’s curriculum should be designed to include best teaching practices and direct alignment with: college and career readiness, career opportunities, personal development, high school preparedness, and/or social and emotional learning. Instructors will utilize appropriate College resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available to complement the teaching and learning process while following C4K and Aims Community College policies and procedures.

Job Duties:

  • Report to work punctually and adhere to the agreed-upon work schedule, timeliness of work hour entries.

  • Communicate with the College for Kids Coordinator and accompanying staff members efficiently and effectively throughout the program via verbal communication, phone call, or email.

  • Responsible for student safety throughout the program, including the completion of Mandatory Reporter Training and other best practices.

  • Responsible for the creation of the course curriculum, which includes clear learning objectives aligning with C4K’s overall program objectives.

  • Create and deliver daily lesson plans with daily supply needs to the C4K Coordinator prior to the start of the program.

  • Demonstrate a sensitivity toward and respect for the myriad of diversities represented in the College for Kids program.

  • Work with colleagues to select appropriate textbooks and course materials while abiding by program decisions for said materials.

  • Maintain student attendance records and roster(s).

  • Participate in the necessary training and mandatory in-person orientation for College for Kids.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Classroom Teaching experience

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Experience using computerized systems

The lesson should include observable and measurable student learning outcomes aligned with one or more objectives or competencies listed under “Key Responsibilities” in the job description: college and career readiness, career opportunities, personal development, high school preparedness, and social and emotional learning.
