Trinity University is seeking a Part-Time Faculty for the Fall 2026 semester to teach the following course(s):
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical responsibilities of part-time faculty members include but are not limited to:
Developing the course syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets departmental and University standards
Designing and delivering lectures, discussions, in-class activities, and assignments
Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams and graded performance juries
Assigning early, midterm, and final grades in compliance with University deadlines
Maintaining office hours as directed by the department chair or program director
Making student accommodations as determined by the Office of Student Accessibility Services
Adhering to all instructional policies as published in the Faculty Handbook and the Courses of Study Bulletin
Lead string chamber music ensemble(s), a one-credit course offered to higher-level string players within the orchestra. Teaching duties include: forming groups with appropriately matched players and repertoire assignments, one-hour weekly coachings for each group (each ensemble is expected to rehearse on their own at least 1 hour per week), and organizing and creating a digital program for an end-of-semester combined program/performance.·
Provide individual instruction in the area of violin
Assign appropriate repertoire for violin students as per their ability
APPOINTMENT DETAILS
This position will be a one semester appointment beginning August of 2026, and will be non-renewable.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Required: Master of Music
Preferred: Doctoral degree preferred
EXPERIENCE
Required: Established record as an instructor of individual lessons in violin
Preferred: Experience working with student chamber ensembles
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred: Certification in secondary music education
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Mastery of the relevant subject matter
Ability to design rigorous and meaningful instruction of violin
Ability to deliver engaging lectures, discussions, or in-class activities
Ability to judge performance juries at the end of the semester
