SALARY: $45.00 per class hour contracted

POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instruction and assessment of learning outcomes.  

  • Utilize engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both in and outside of the classroom. 

  • Maintain accurate student records and communication. 

  • Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals. This includes being accessible to students outside of scheduled classroom time.   

  • Provide educational leadership and work effectively with faculty, administration, and campus support staff.    

  • Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation.  

  • Comply with College policies and practices related to instruction, assessment, and delivery.    

  • Additional duties and responsibilities will be discussed as needs arise. 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Course emphasis will be on Engines, Brakes, Electrical Systems, Chassis/Suspension/Steering Systems, Hydraulics, Power Train, Refrigeration/AC, and Preventive Maintenance.

  • Work to provide clear Diesel Medium and Heavy Truck Technology pathways and subsequent partnerships with secondary education.  Provide instruction and technical support to NWTC Corporate Training and Economic Development (CTED).

  • Provide educational leadership, work effectively with applicable advisory committees, community groups, faculty, administration, and campus support staff including Corporate Training and Economic Development (CTED) to perform contract work

  • Manage classroom and shop/lab to ensure a productive and safe learning environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Technical Diploma in a related area of study

  • ASE Master Certified Technician/Manufacturer Master Technician

  • Five years of related employment.

  • At a minimum, occupational experience has to have occurred at least 1 year within the last 5 years or 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience in a related area within the last five years is acceptable.

  • Hands-on working knowledge of diesel medium and heavy truck service industry requirements

  • OEM provided service software or other industry customer care management software as required.

  • Must hold a class A CDL or have capability to obtain one within one year of employment.

  • Employment is conditional on the completion of a background check and drug test with acceptable results.

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the District’s standard insurance policy terms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of licensed Class A commercial driving experience is highly desirable

  • Previous teaching experience with adult learners is preferred

  • Extended Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or attending meetings

  • Mobility: Ability to move around the campus to attend meetings and events

  • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using hands and fingers to handle or operate office equipment, tools, or controls.

  • Visual and Auditory: Ability to read documents and communicate effectively with students and staff.

  • Light Lifting: Capability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
