JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Assistant Coordinator of Career Services is responsible for supporting Greater Allegheny students with career development guidance, programs, and resources across multiple academic disciplines. This role is a part-time opening serving in an on-campus capacity. They will collaborate with students, employers, faculty, and staff to facilitate career exploration, professional skill-building, and successful career transitions. They will assist in the development of the GA Ready initiative, a new campus-wide comprehensive career readiness strategy.
Job Duties
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Provide individual services to students including career exploration/counseling meetings, review and develop job search materials, discuss job search strategies and resources, and hold mock interviews.
- Create and manage an online sign-up scheduling process for the delivery of individual services.
- Host career development related workshops on topics like career exploration, resume and interview preparation, soft skills education, employer networking, professional communication, and office etiquette.
- Collaborate with Penn State Employer Engagement Specialists to host employer connection opportunities.
- Manage/maintain a local job board, including seasonal and short-term opportunities.
- Identify and promote career development-related opportunities across the Penn State system.
- Champion and promote centrally located career service resources to students (Focus2, InterviewPrep, etc).
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness, outcomes, and employer engagement trends.
- Collaborate with the campus internship coordinator, university-wide career services professionals, and regional liaisons.
- Work with academic departments, faculty, and other university offices to integrate career development into the student experience.
- Support other strategic initiatives of the Student Affairs Office.
- Participate in committees and task force groups.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor's degree or higher. Graduate students completing a master’s degree in Student Personnel/Counseling or related area preferred.
- Should possess thorough understanding of the role and purpose of student engagement as it applies to student development along with strong interpersonal skills, an ability to demonstrate follow-through, initiative, and attention to detail.
