Job Description Summary:
The Program Assistant is responsible for providing essential administrative and management support for the annual Health Scholars Academy program operations.
Health Scholars Academy June 15, 2026 through July 17, 2026 (five weeks).
Job Description:
Expectations/Responsibilities
- Attend curriculum and plan sessions with the team.
- Gather and maintain accurate student and team attendance.
- Assure all paperwork is kept accurate and safe including attendance, class rosters, and student support files.
- Assist with staff, student, and parent relations.
- If needed, provides translation to parents and guardians.
- If needed, works with bus rider for student coordination.
- Assist with operations and administrative support for upcoming program operations planning and development.
- Is point of contact for first aid-medical attention. Calls parents or guardians. Coordinates with the operations team on incidents.
- Coordinate with staff and parents, student check in and check out during programming.
- Participate in operations check in huddles with the operations team during Academy.
- Maintain a professional relationship with students.
- Recognizes and work through conflicts in caring ways, invites discussion on differences, and arranges for a third party to assist, if necessary.
- Maintain open communication and mentorship with students.

Required Qualifications
Education: Undergraduate degree (or undergrad senior) or associate's degree.
This position requires enrollment in a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is commonly recognized as the standard qualification for similar roles in the public and private sector, ensuring that the university remains competitive with industry aligned practices, enhances collaboration with external partners, and supports the delivery of services and programs that meet professional and market-driven expectations.
Work Experience:
- 2 years of experience with youth, school, or community programs.
- Experience serving rural or urban populations.
- 4+ years of experience with youth, school, or community programs.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
