Our Commercial Technology team is seeking a highly motivated, self-starting, intellectually curious and detail-oriented Paralegal to support a wide range of technology-focused strategic partnerships, intellectual property and information technology matters, with a strong emphasis on due diligence for early stage investments and PE and M&A transactions. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys analysing complex information, and is eager to work on cutting-edge technology deals for innovative clients. The team’s work spans specialist support for transactional teams to counselling in complex strategic technology contracts, software licensing and cloud/SaaS arrangements, data licensing, IP commercialisation, consumer and digital regulation, data security, privacy compliance and procurement..

The Role

We are seeking a Paralegal to join our IPTS team within the Tech & Life Sciences practice. This role is focused on assistance with specialist due diligence, including assisting with commercial contract review and reviewing IP assets. The role may also extend to assistance on data protection diligence. The successful candidate will work closely with Associates, Counsel and Partners, assisting with some administrative tasks and ensuring smooth execution of complex IP and technology-related deals.

This role will be on a 12-month fixed term contract.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with commercial, IP and IT due diligence for transactions, including reviewing and summarising commercial contracts, and IP and technology licences, carrying out verification of registered IP assets.
  • Using AI to create contract summaries and verifying the accuracy of the AI summaries
  • Assist with drafting and preparing ancillary documents for commercial agreements.
  • Perform legal research on IP concepts, licensing structures, and technology regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external parties to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including document filing and version control for complex agreements.
  • Assist in preparing know how and client alerts for clients and internal stakeholders.

Key Requirements
The minimum level of education, experience and certifications acceptable for the position:

  • Law degree or Post- Graduate Diploma in Law essential. Equivalent qualifications from other common law jurisdictions considered.
  • Prior experience working in a law firm or professional services environment with exposure to IP, technology or commercial transactions preferred but not essential.

  • Ability to handle a high volume of tasks while maintaining attention to detail and prioritising as necessary.
