Pay Range: $18-21/hour

Job Summary: The Painter is responsible for applying coats of paint, varnish, stain, and other finishes to protect and enhance the appearance of hotel structures and surfaces. This role involves preparing surfaces, selecting and mixing paints, and performing maintenance tasks to ensure the hotel is well-maintained both inside and outside. 

 

Essential Functions and Duties: 

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, removing old paint, and filling nail holes, cracks, and joints with appropriate materials. 

  • Tape, float, and texture walls and ceilings to ensure a smooth finish. 

  • Mix paint and other finishes to match specified colors using pigments, oils, and thinning agents. 

  • Apply paint, varnish, and stain using brushes, rollers, spray guns, or special tools for custom effects. 

  • Erect scaffolding or ladders to reach high surfaces safely. 

  • Perform graffiti removal on both interior and exterior surfaces. 

  • Conduct minor glass repairs on building windows as needed. 

  • Maintain inventory of painting supplies and assist with ordering new materials when required. 

  • Identify and report repair needs on buildings, grounds, and equipment. 

  • Complete and document work orders, keeping accurate records of materials and labor used. 

  • Follow safety protocols for handling hazardous materials and operating equipment. 

  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure proper functionality.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills: 

  • Knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and tools, including proper application of paint, stain, and varnish. 

  • Experience in preparing surfaces for painting and performing minor repairs such as filling cracks and holes. 

  • Ability to mix paint to match specific colors and apply custom finishes. 

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions for quality completion of tasks. 

  • Ability to work safely with hazardous materials and operate equipment such as spray guns and scaffolding. 

  • Good organizational skills for managing painting supplies and maintaining accurate work order records. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Work Environment: 

  • Work involves both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying temperatures. 

  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and lifting of objects up to 50 lbs. 

  • Exposure to noise, vibration, and hazardous materials such as paint fumes and chemicals. 

  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
