Job Summary Performs interior and exterior painting and refinishing duties according to standard procedures, as well as, duties of Facilities Technician as needed. Essential Functions - Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations when interacting with other personnel, patients and visitors. - Utilize good customer services skills such as active listening, communicating actions, following up timely with others and projecting a professional and positive image. - Service: * Performs and manages assigned tasks including preventive maintenance and on-demand work orders within the established time frames while meeting departmental expectations for quality of work, documentation of actions taken, and effectively communicated with customers, peers and leadership. * Performs variety of finishes (painting, vinyl coverings) repairs, renovations or touch-ups following departmental guidelines including the protection of surrounding areas, moving of furniture, and clean-up upon completion of work. * Installs approved artwork and signage and assists projects with the removal and safe storage of items for reinstall at the completion of work. * Non-routine shift work may be required to ensure coverage during emergency conditions, cover staff off time or to complete work request with limited time access. - Safety & Quality: * Understanding of regulatory compliance standards and their impact they have on job assignments. * Evaluate work assignments for potential hazards and need for personal protective equipment (PPE). Perform work following established safety protocols. * Identifies and follows departmental procedures in notifying appropriate personnel of emergency or problematic situations. Stabilizes the environment as necessary to protect lives and property. * Documents daily work order, preventive maintenance and compliance activities in the CMMS system, and tracking spreadsheets. * Maintain assigned work areas in a safe, neat and orderly fashion. * Attend assigned training sessions and actively participate in competency evaluation process to continuously learn and improve performance. - Finance: * Maintains an appropriate level of supplies and parts for the maintenance of the facilities. * Utilizes the appropriate departmental policies for the ordering of equipment’s, supplies, replacement parts and calling in vendors for service. * Properly document work assignment times within the CMMS system. * Follows departmental policies for the utilization of overtime. - Collaboration * Communicates pertinent department operations information with Facilities Operations personnel at the start and end of each shift following departmental protocols. * Communicates with customers and peers anticipated impacts to their workflow or environment prior to beginning work and communicates status or delays. * Provides departmental cross coverage as needed based upon departmental demands, customer needs or emergency response. Examples of services included but are not limited to grounds keeping, painting, spill response, water system leaks, housekeeping, and offsite coverage/project work. Education: - High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) Required Experience: - 1+ years painting experience in a commercial or residential application Required - Healthcare experience Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to read to follow written assignments, manufacture's directions, and colorant charts. Knowledge of painting techniques, uses of paints and other surface coating material (i.e. oils, bases, varnishes, etc. usually acquired through special training in vocational school. - Requires knowledge of painting procedures as well as skill in using equipment and materials when performing moderately complex, multiple step painting procedures. - Ability to exercise judgment in selecting proper equipment and supplies and methods of application to be used. - Interpersonal skills necessary to discuss work procedures with employees in other departments. - Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details while preparing surfaces for painting and mixing paints. - Requires the visual ability to distinguish between closely matched colors.
