PURPOSE OF CONSULTANCY
1. Support in the coordination and execution of the activities of the PAHO Regional Strategy for Improving Mental Health and Suicide Prevention.
2. Support in the coordination and execution of the activities of the PAHO Regional Suicide Prevention Initiative.
3. Support in the coordination of work with key partners from the Interamerican System.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The international consultant is expected to work on the following areas:
- Participate in meetings of the Mental Health Unit.
- Review and provide expert comments to regional materials produced by the Mental Health Unit as communication material, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, virtual courses and meetings and events.
- Support the MH Unit in producing documentation on the regional and country advances and results of the implementation of the Regional Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Strategy.
- Review and provide expert comments on situation analysis documents produced by PAHO country offices.
- Review and provide expert comments on project proposals produced by PAHO country offices.
- Provide strategic expert advice on the evidence-based interventions to be adapted and implemented by the suicide prevention initiative.
- Provide strategic expert advice on the development and implementation of intersectoral approaches to mental health and suicide prevention.
- Participate in monthly meetings of country offices when requested.
Qualifications, experience, skills and languages
Education:
Masters degree in Mental Health or Public Health or Psychology or Medical Doctor specialized in Psychiatry.
Experience:
at least 9 years of experience in the area of public mental health
