Packaging Sustainability Senior Manager at a glance…

You will be the Packaging Sustainability subject matter expert within our Global Sustainability Team. You will own the Global Packaging Design Principles program, define success in how we invest in infrastructure and lead delivery of our Virgin Plastic Reduction target. You will provide strategic direction, standards and governance to ensure consistent implementation across the business and adapt the program to evolving priorities within the Kraft Heinz ESG Strategy. You will enable cross-functional teams to translate sustainability targets into actionable packaging requirements and drive supplier engagement, pilots and scale-up of circular packaging solutions.

What’s on the menu?

  • Act as Kraft Heinz’s subject matter expert and strategic business partner on packaging sustainability and circularity.

  • Set strategic targets for the business related to packaging sustainability and circularity. Work with regional teams to establish product pipelines and yearly targets to achieve global targets.

  • Maintain, evolve and govern Global Packaging Design Principles: further refine global governance and KPIs to ensure that Kraft Heinz products are future-proofed against future risks.

  • Define the strategic direction of the company, through guiding the analytical efforts to ensure the organization readiness to prepare for upcoming regulations across the globe, supported by the zones. The global expert would lead the global strategic view including conducting assessments of trade-offs, implications to the business with a global portfolio view

  • Embed complex regulatory requirements (EPR, recyclability standards, labeling requirements) into new product development, innovation pipelines and value creation activities.

  • Lead program deployment and change management across regions: establish governance rituals, run steering committees, agile pods and represent global sustainability in key internal forums.

  • Serve as key link between Net Zero workstreams and packaging teams leveraging design changes and upstream decarbonization to contribute to Kraft Heinz’s Science-Based Targets

  • Translate packaging and circularity opportunities/threats into Risk and Resilience evaluation matrix and design resulting mitigation actions.

  • Act as primary liaison to Procurement, aligning Supplier Guiding Principles, supplier selection, specifications, commercial terms and sourcing strategies with packaging sustainability goals; support supplier engagement, capability building and joint innovation.

  • Collaborate with Government Affairs/Regulatory to monitor legislative developments, inform policy positions, and ensure compliance across markets.

  • Identify and drive resourcing for packaging innovations (material substitution, lightweighting, mono-material conversion, refill/reuse pilots, PCR programs)

  • Lead external engagement strategy for packaging with global organizations, industry peers and other high impact partners.

  • Oversee the successful global implementation of processes that lead to accurate and complete data to support our packaging strategy decision making relying on the support from the data teams, R&D and controllership, bringing their expertise and strategic thinking to raise the bar across the company

  • Define and track KPIs (e.g., % recyclable, reusable, compostable packaging, Virgin Plastic Reduction, source reduction, GHG impact from packaging) and provide inputs for internal and external reporting (voluntary sustainability report, CDP, regulatory disclosures).

  • Develop and deliver training and communication strategies to elevate awareness and capability across the organization.

  • I have 6-8+ years of experience in data stewardship, data architecture, data management, analytics, or related fields; and at least 3 years managing teams and leading cross-functional programs.

  • I have proven experience leading global or multi-region teams supporting multiple business units.

  • I have a strong technical understanding of data concepts: data modeling, metadata management, data quality, data lineage, and data integration patterns.

  • I have hands-on experience with data stewardship/governance tools (e.g., Collibra) and proficiency in SQL.

  • I have a track record of delivering measurable data-quality improvements and embedding operational processes.

  • I have executive presence and the ability to influence senior business stakeholders; experience driving consensus in complex, matrixed organizations.

    I have excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to translate technical concepts for business audiences.

  • I have coaching and people leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to develop direct reports.

  • I am a strategic thinker with an operational focus — able to balance long-term data strategy with short-term delivery.

  • I have years of relevant experience in packaging, sustainability, or technical program management roles within FMCG/CPG, retail, or manufacturing contexts.

  • I have experience leading international packaging programs and managing cross-functional stakeholders

  • I have deep technical knowledge of packaging materials (glass, paper, plastics, metals), design for recyclability/composability, circular economy principles, and familiarity with EPR and international packaging regulations.

  • I have proven experience deploying governance, training, roll-out plans. I have experience in Agile principles and ways of working.

  • I have experience with LCA, forecasting and target modelling, KPI development and tracking, and basic financial evaluation of packaging changes.

  • I have a strong track record collaborating with R&D, Procurement, Government Affairs/Regulatory, Manufacturing and Marketing to deliver change.

  • I am comfortable working across cultures and regions with global stakeholders.
