Package Engineer – R&D
OUR ROLE
We are looking for a skilled Package Engineer to join Fiskars R&D team. In this role, you will play a key part in developing and improving packaging solutions for our products - covering new package variants, promotional sets, cost optimization, and quality improvement projects.
Your mission is to create packaging solutions that combine functionality, sustainability, and cost efficiency. You will turn ideas into practical designs that protect and showcase our products while meeting brand and environmental standards. This includes involving innovation in packaging concepts, optimizing materials, and ensuring quality across all projects.
You will work closely with the Current Business Delivery team, sourcing and suppliers, and our own factories to ensure packaging meets functional, aesthetic, and sustainability requirements. Part of your role will also involve data collection and analysis to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
This position is based either in Espoo or Billnäs factory, Finland, and reports to our Senior Manager, R&D. The role is full-time and hybrid.
WHAT YOU’LL DO AT FISKARS GROUP
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement new packaging variants, promotional sets, and seasonal packaging concepts.
Drive cost improvement and quality projects for packaging across product categories.
Collect and analyze packaging-related data to support optimization and compliance.
Collaborate with sourcing teams, suppliers, and internal factories to ensure packaging feasibility and timely delivery.
Ensure packaging aligns with Fiskars’ sustainability goals and brand guidelines.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for packaging processes and standards.
WHO YOU ARE
Experience:
MSc/BSc degree in Packaging Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in packaging development or engineering.
Knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and sustainability principles.
Strong analytical skills and ability to manage data-driven projects.
Solid experience with CAD tools and packaging design software; Impact CAD preferred.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English.
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
A collaborative team player with a can-do attitude.
