Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is looking for an Obsolescence Engineer to support its portfolio of emerging and current program requirements. Ideally, this position will be based in Bristol, United Kingdom.
Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 1,400 people in the UK. We are responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK defence customers including new capabilities like the E-7 AEW&C and the P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Autonomous Systems, C4ISR Services, Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services and are very much in a growth phase.
Boeing Defence UK engineering function operates a matrix organisation consisting of engineering departments that deliver technical skills, expertise and products into our programmes. This role will be in the Product Support Engineering Department. The Department consists of the following technical areas:
As an Obsolescence Engineer you will support the Obsolescence Capability Lead reporting to the BDUK Product Support Manager.
Responsibilities:
Support the Obsolescence Capability Lead in the provision of the Obsolescence Management Services for the BDUK Portfolio which may include, generation of processes and re-assessment of plans to reflect changing requirements.
Assist in the preparation of material for briefings, meetings and formal working groups (internal and external).
Highlighting any obsolescence issues or opportunities at the earliest possible point and where required support mitigation and development plans for addressing highlighted concerns.
Attendance as required at internal, supplier and customer meetings.
Liaison with Systems functions (Engineering, Supply Chain Management and Training) to ensure Support Engineering and obsolescence remains informed and aligned with wider BDUK developments and progress.
Liaison with the Customer on specific areas of Obsolescence.
Assist in coordinating Support Engineering deliverables (CDRLs) ensuring timely inputs are received, reviewed and the final output is ready for approval with a focus on First Time Quality.
Liaison with Boeing International obsolescence personnel commensurate with role requirements.
Work as directed by the Obsolescence Management Capability Lead and the BDUK Product Support Engineering Manager
