Pay Range

$28.05 - $42.10

Major Responsibilities:

Coordinates Patient Care 

  • Facilitates group therapy and develops programming and therapeutic treatment for identified patients. 

  • Supervises patients during program hours. Monitors hallways, patients going to restroom, etc. Monitors patients during meal times and break times. 

  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with patients, physicians, allied health professionals and all referral sources. Plans and facilitates psycho educational groups. 

  • Co-facilitates group therapy, treatment issues and expressive therapy with therapists. Assists in facilitating adult groups when needed. 

  • Works cooperatively with Program Manager in program development. Assists in meal preparation and service with patients. 

  • Supervises patients as they enter and leave facility and get on and off transportation vans. 

Completes Documentation 

  • Completes appropriate documentation for treatment plans, progress notes, weekly updates and group notes in specified time limits. Documents calls and related information on designated forms. 

  • Participates in discharge planning and referral contacts and verifies follow through and documentation of discharge plans. Checks and audits charts for documentation and charge errors. 

  • Assists interns with documentation as needed. 

  • Assists in taking daily attendance of program patients and calls parents or guardians if patients are absent and documents in the clinical record. 

Communicates with Staff Nurse and Physicians 

  • Communicates treatment issues and medication concerns to Nurses and Physicians daily. 

  • Participates in treatment teams with coworkers and helps write treatment plan reviews in conjunction with treatment team members. Attends staff meetings as needed. 

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers. Performs other duties needed to maintain safe and therapeutic clinical environment. 

  • Assists in time-out supervision with patients as needed and provides one-on-one interventions with patients to de-escalate behaviors in time-out. 

  • Performs therapeutic holds on patients as needed. Attends debriefings on patients as needed. 

  • Works constantly with confidential information and must constantly make decisions concerning true emotional status of patients, i.e., ability to harm self and others. 

  • Interacts daily with psychiatrist nurses, social services, occupational therapists and patients to provide appropriate services and programs to patients.

  • Interacts with family and outside agencies for patient care on a daily basis. 

Organizational and Professional Development 

  • Stays abreast of organization’s programs and services. 

  • Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program. Attends in-service programs as mandated per policy. 

  • Manages resources responsibly. 

  • Maintains a clean and neat physical environment in compliance with infection prevention standards. Seeks and identifies opportunities to improve care, patient flow or utilization of resources. 

  • Participates in process improvement initiatives for the department and facility as directed. Participates in the orientation and supervision of new employees and students. 

  • Assists in orienting new staff. 

  • Participates in training and development activities to enhance own knowledge and skills. Completes required facility and departmental continuing education. 

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Licensed by the state of Georgia (LPC, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT) 

Education Required:

  • Master's degree in counseling or related field from an accredited institute 

Experience Required:

  • At least 1 year related experience 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries weight up to 50 pounds. Ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols with vision and hearing within normal range to respond to Code alerts and equipment alarms. Work-related stress due to volume and time constraints with irregular working hours.
