Position Purpose:

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Outpatient Infusion Registered Nurse RN specializes in administering medications and fluids through intravenous (IV) lines.

What You Will Do:

  • Infusion nurses administer medications, fluids, and blood products directly into patients’ veins, closely monitoring them for reactions and complications during and after infusions.

  • Vascular Access Device (VAD) Management: This includes inserting, maintaining, and removing various types of IV lines, such as peripheral IV lines, central lines, and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines).

  • They educate patients and caregivers about the infusion process, potential side effects, and home care if needed.

  • Infusion nurses work with a team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing.

  • Valid RN license in the state of Connecticut.

  • Ideal candidates will have 1 year of experience in IV Infusion or Ambulatory Infusion sites, which is highly preferred.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).

  • Consideration will be given, provided the expertise includes two or more years of medical/surgical nursing experience in an acute inpatient setting.

  • BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) — certification support available post-hire.

Position Highlights:

Full-Time – 32 hours/week - Day Shift.

  • No weekends or holidays required.
