Major Duties:
Qualifications: Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education. OR General Experience: I have, or within 90 days of the closing date will have, at least 3 years of general experience, of which at least 1 year of experience is equivalent to at least the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-04) which has provided me with a knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation, and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups. Ideal Candidate: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Outdoor Recreation Program Manager to lead, innovate, and oversee a comprehensive base recreation program. The ideal candidate will possess a robust blend of personnel leadership, financial acumen, facility management, and community engagement skills. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: I. Knowledge and demonstrated skill in the field of Outdoor Recreation. Skills and demonstrated ability in the management of parks, the operation of Outdoor Adventure and Interpretive Nature programs, Outdoor Equipment Rental operations, Riding Stables, Aquatics, and Rod and Gun program. 2. Ability to plan and execute complex multi-faceted projects simultaneously. 3. Ability and demonstrated skills in employee supervision and training. 4. Ability to identify and analyze problems, conducts research and makes effective decisions. 5. Ability to communicate orally, in writing, and use a personal computer to produce correspondence and track data. Must be able to prepare accurate budgets (both APF and NAF), and project both short and long term requirements for equipment, supplies, maintenance and facilities. 6. Ability to deal with customers and employees with tact and diplomacy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
